At least in my opinion, pets and elderly and others are frightened to death of it...myself included. It's just unnecessary loud explosions, with a few colours; not worth the fright.
I mean not to be a debbie downer but every time this month pops up I am dreading it, and so are many others. I hope I am not the only one on this forum who feels the same as I do.
I cannot fathom how the government believes it's 'okay' to sell explosives to random people who have also used it to harm others. At the very least, have them not be sold to the public.

Why do people get so much enjoyment out of fireworks anyway? Read a book, play a game, talk to your friends - none of these things cause appalling noise pollution and terror in pets and others.

Another reason is how it's not just on the 5th, it's the entire month starting today! And it goes on until around 1AM at the latest, but I have witnessed explosions up to 2AM.
In fact, the explosions have already begun and it's swiftly becoming unbearable and frightening.

I would say it is more frightening than irritating, I am not exaggerating Joseph, but if Fireworks frighten you, they leave you trembling in bed. I would honestly prefer it if firework displays are hosted at public events and are banned from selling to the public.

Still wouldnt help if you are frightend by them (im not myself) as public events can be heard from very far away. From mine i can hear every firework in the public display that is at least 30 minute walk from my house

The restriction I have suggested considers the unlucky many, such as myself the courtesy of not being frightened to death for an entire month. I hope such a thing gets instigated immediately...

We have three bonfires on our street alone, two on the neighboring street and several others... it's a nightmare, Joseph. In every town and/or city should be a secluded location and an official organized event to host a legal firework display which I would honestly consider a damn good idea.

I agree, the wind is very bad in my area tonight, so all the fireworks being set of are just being blown back towards the ground. Some people are just very thick it's annoying...

The explosions are right on queue, it seems these people have more money than braincells... ugh, if I weren't some random nobody I'd try and get said petition to instigate said ban.

Personally, I really enjoy firework displays, I think they look really really cool and add some colour and noise to an otherwise silent and black sky. I can actually say I've never known a person who doesn't like them (Although I guess I know a few people who don't like the sound of popping balloons), so I'm not entirely sure where you state that there are "many others", granted, there may be a fair few people scared of them but, proportionally, I would certainly think that there are definitely not that many people who are sacred of them compared to those who aren't.

To be fair, there is pretty stringent regulation on fireworks in Britain already, some may even argue too much. Also, it's not something that constantly happens all year round, it happens in concentrated periods, so it's not as if it's a constant problem. However, I do completely understand that people, such as yourself, do not like them, but personally, I do think the current laws are appropriate, considering there's only 4 days a year in which fireworks should go on past 11pm, and most days, they will only be set off between 6pm-11pm, a five hour period (I do understand that that law is easy be flouted, but at least it technically shouldn't be allowed).

One last thing:

Just a little heads up, be very careful about what you say sometimes. (Not trying to be personally against you, but that just came across my mind when I saw your post)

I was really in a bad mood when posting those, but there's nothing overly wrong with them, perhaps excluding the latter... and though to be fair I was called a scrooge. @.@

I don't like to think I'm selfish. :< I'm a nice guy, really! But I realize now he wasn't being serious and I am just overly sensitive.

Hmmm, and I didn't mean to imply that by Scrooge, I was referring to Scrooge from the Christmas Carol who disliked Christmas, and drew a parallel to Espeon and Halloween!

I wasn't saying that you were wrong in posting these, I was just highlighting that you said that you shouldn't do one thing, yet (arguably) you did that same thing yourself, which you previously said that you shouldn't do. However, I fully understand that all people act differently when they're in a bad mood, so I was merely just brining it to your attention, I wasn't trying to lecture you or anything.

I just realised the reason why there are fireworks early is because of Divali.

I don't think it should be banned, I really like Bonfire Night and many of the public shows which are put on. I do understand how much of an annoyance it can be to people though when people set off fireworks a few days before the actually date. We have a number of animals here, including a dog, and so I know first-hand how much it can upset them. Luckily where we live not many people are idiots enough to set off fireworks early, so you only have the main night itself, and even then not many go off.

Really, it's the same as most things. It's only a real annoyance if people aren't careful and care about what they're doing.
